Who we are
Gun Milan (gunmilan.com) is run by Intuition Labs Private Limited, under the brand Zenzy Labs. "We" in this policy means Intuition Labs Private Limited.
What information does Gun Milan use, and how?
Gun Milan matches two kundlis from what you type in: each person's name, gender, date, time and place of birth. The calculation runs in your browser, on your phone. There are no accounts and no login.
Where is it kept?
The people you save and the matches you check are kept in your browser's own storage on your device. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them. They stay until you delete them in the app or clear your browser's data. "Save backup file" on the People screen saves them to a file on your phone, which is yours to keep or delete.
Biodata files
A biodata PDF or photo you upload is read on your device and is not uploaded anywhere. To read a photo or scanned page, the app downloads its text-recognition engine and English language data from jsDelivr, a public code-delivery network, the first time you use it; your file is not sent with that download.
Share links
When you share a match as a link, the link itself contains both people's names, dates, times and places of birth. Anyone you send it to, and anyone they forward it to, can read those details by opening it. Share links only with people you would give those details to.
When a link is opened, or when WhatsApp or another app builds its preview, our server reads the details from the link to draw the preview picture and fill in the page's title. We keep no record of them: our own request logging is off. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes each request under its own policy, and caches the preview picture -- which shows the two first names, the score and the verdict -- against the link's address, so the same link shows the same picture quickly.
How we count usage
To improve Gun Milan and decide what to build next, the app counts how it is used and sends those counts to our server. What is counted:
- That the app was opened, and how: directly or from a share link, and the website you came from, such as a search engine.
- What you do in it: matches checked and their verdict, score, Mangal, Nadi and Gana outcome; whether each person was typed in, saved or read from a biodata; shares and their channel; people saved and pinned; backups; language changes; corrections; taps on features marked as coming soon.
- For a match: each person's birthplace (town, state and country) and birth year.
- Birthplace text, exactly as typed, when it found no town, so we can add missing towns; which fields a biodata read could not find, and how long it took; form fields that were left wrong; and errors in the app.
- How fast each page loaded, as three timings, whether it was opened from a share link, and your phone's memory in broad bands; and how long a match took to appear.
- The first step taken towards a match (typing, choosing someone saved, a biodata, or adding a person); for a share link, only whether that match was already in your own History; and after a biodata is read, which fields you corrected, by name and never what they held.
- When an app such as WhatsApp fetches a share link's preview, which app it was and roughly where, and nothing else about the link.
- From the connection, as our hosting provider resolves it: your country, state and city, and from your browser, its operating system, browser and whether it is a phone, tablet or computer. Your IP address itself is not stored.
- A random identifier stored on your device, which lets us count people rather than visits and see whether people return. It does not identify you, and clearing your browser's data replaces it.
What is never counted: anyone's name, day, month or time of birth, the contents of a biodata, the address of a share link, or anything else that says who a person is. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits and page speed without cookies. Usage counts are kept for analysis and are not sold or shared.
Do third parties see your information?
- Cloudflare hosts gunmilan.com, runs the code that draws share-link previews, and stores the usage counts described above. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- jsDelivr serves the text-recognition engine when you upload a photo or scan. jsDelivr's privacy policy.
- WhatsApp or any other app you choose to share with receives what you send through it, under its own policy.
Gun Milan has no advertising and no tracking cookies, and does not sell or share your information.
Who may use it
Gun Milan is meant for adults and families arranging marriages. It is not meant for anyone under 18 to use.
How is your information kept secure?
gunmilan.com is served only over HTTPS. Because your saved people and matches stay on your device, keeping that device and your backup files safe keeps them safe.
Your rights, and grievances
You can view, correct or delete everything you have saved directly in the app, at any time, and "Save backup file" gives you a copy of all of it. The usage counts we keep are tied only to the random identifier on your device, never to who you are; clearing your browser's data breaks that link for good.
For a question or a grievance about your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, write to us at the address below; we reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Changes are posted on this page with a new date.
