Anuradha's deity is Mitra, whose very name means 'friend'. In the Vedas he is the god of the morning light, of the handshake and of the promise kept, always named beside Varuna as the two who watch over agreements between people. Where Varuna sees what is hidden, Mitra brings people together in the open, so that strangers can trust each other and friends stay friends. Tradition sees Mitra in Anuradha people: friendly, loyal, devoted, and able to keep a friendship or a family together through hard times as well as easy ones.
What the name holds
Anuradha means 'following Radha', the star that comes after Vishakha, whose old name was Radha, and so also 'one who brings success'. Its symbol is a lotus, which blooms beautifully out of muddy water. Tradition gives each quarter (pada) of the nakshatra its own syllable for beginning a child's name, and the quarter the Moon stood in at birth chooses it: ना (na), नी (ni), नू (nu) or ने (ne).
Nature
People born with the Moon in Anuradha are said to be calm, even-tempered and fond of travel, and many find success far from where they were born. Saturn, its ruling planet, gives them patience, discipline and the endurance to keep going when things are hard, so their warmth has real staying power.
Strengths
They make friends easily and keep them for life, and they work well in groups and organisations. Many are good at bringing people together, managing teams and building something steadily over years. They are disciplined, sincere and often spiritually inclined. Like the lotus, they have a gift for staying gentle and hopeful in difficult surroundings.
In family and marriage
In family life they are devoted, affectionate and deeply loyal to the people they love. They like to keep the whole family connected and remember everyone's occasions. Their feelings run deep and they can be hurt by indifference, so they do well to say plainly what they need rather than wait for others to guess.
The partner who suits them
A partner who is loyal, warm and sincere tends to suit them, someone who values companionship and treats the marriage as a lasting friendship. They respond to steady affection and shared faith more than to excitement. With a spouse who returns their devotion, they build a marriage of real companionship that grows deeper and more beautiful with the years.
In kundali matching
Anuradha is Deva gana and Madhya nadi, and its yoni animal is the deer. In a match these are set against the partner's nakshatra: a partner who is also Madhya nadi brings Nadi dosha; a partner of Rakshasa gana brings Gana dosha; and Yoni compares the two animals. Other features of the two kundalis can cancel a dosha, so no nakshatra makes a match good or bad on its own. How kundali matching works explains the whole reading.
